Track of the Day: All Things Blue – White Lady Dogs

LA act All Things Blue are relatively new to the scene, and whilst they are yet to release their debut LP, the unit have garnered the attention of indie publications both at home in California and across the pond – for good reason, of course. Hot off the heels of ‘Dicking Around’, which was released last month, the band this week shared their newest single ‘White Lady Dogs’.

The track is a witty observation of frontwoman India Coombs’ neighbourhood in South Los Angeles, and a two-fingers to gentrification. Coombs’ punchy vocals are accompanied by psych-y, swirling guitars, leading the track almost into the realm of shoegaze – though Coombs has self-described her style as ‘dream-punk’. Despite the laid-back, summery vibes, the song’s lyrics are weighted in anger at the changes taking place in a tight-knit community. Coombs summarises the song’s message better than we could: “get OUTTA here ya rich fuckin’ opportunists’.

‘White Lady Dogs’ is the third preview the band have given of their upcoming debut LP ‘Get Bit’, which is out later this year. If the tracks we’ve heard so far are anything to go by, we’re in for a treat.
