Tame Impala certainly hasn’t been leaving fans unamused in recent months. Despite having to postpone his tour for a second time this week, Aussie psych maestro Kevin Parker has ensured we’re well-fed with an abundance of extras and remixes. Back in April, he gave us a full, ambient reworking of February’s The Slow Rush. Last month Four Tet took the reins, offering up a dreamy remix of single ‘Is It True’ (which featured as a Track of the Day). This week, Parker enlisted the genius of Dev Hynes – better known as Blood Orange – for another gem of a remix, this time for ‘Borderline’.
Hynes’ reworking almost doubles the track’s length, taking it up to an impressive seven minutes. Adding his own spin, the remix gives ‘Borderline’ a groovier new vibe; new drums are incorporated courtesy of Porches’ Aaron Maine, and Parker’s original vocals are warped to create a spacey atmosphere.
Whilst veering far from the original, the Blood Orange rework of ‘Borderline’ is a fresh take on an already stellar tune. Check it out below:
